The Smurfs: Smurf House with Papa Smurf and “Gargamel and Azrael” Figure

S was very pleased to see this toy arrive; she’s just recently discovered the Smurfs and thinks they’re great.  Well, who doesn’t? I remember the Smurfs from when I was little, and it’s lovely to see them coming back for a new audience. This year they’re embarking on a new adventure in Smurfs: The Lost Village and Schleich has brought out a cute collectable range of characters.

Smurfs House

The set is made by Schleich, a brand well known for producing high quality toys – and this set is no different. The doors fit onto the door frame, which is then fitted into a hole in the toadstool base. The same happens for the windows, which have shutters as well as window inserts. They were a little tricky to put together, but once they were done, that was it and they have stayed put so far.

The door even has a key so that Papa Smurf can lock the door and make sure Gargamel can’t get in. Papa Smurf looks exactly as I remember him from the old TV show – and from the newer movies.

You can lift the roof off the toadstool for easy access to the house; S has enjoyed making Papa Smurf have lots of her other toys round to visit, which is nice. The great thing about children at this age is that they don’t stick to the “rules” of which characters can and can’t play with each other. Sometimes Gargamel is a bad guy; sometimes he’s the friendly neighbour bringing his cat to visit!

As you can (hopefully) see from the photos, the toadstool house is quite realistic, with wood grain detail in the windows and doors.

This is a great play set for any child, whether they’re into the Smurfs yet or not – because it encourages imaginative play, children can use this alongside their other toys and characters. Or, as they grow and develop (and watch Smurfs movies) they can use it to reenact their favourite Smurfs scenes.

You can see the full collection of Smurfs toys on the Schleich website

This set is priced at £29.99 and designed for children aged 3 and over. Please note: we were provided with this set for the purposes of review, but all words and opinions are our own.

This smurf house looks exactly the same which I remember from my childhood Smurf movies. Papa Smurf looks smart, Gargamel & his cat is lively. I think the price at £29.99 is reasonable for such a lovely play set. If they can provide some other surfs like little girl, little boy surf, it’s wonderful.
