Visiting the Niagara Falls is on many people’s bucket list. For, well over 100 years tourists have been making special trips to the area to view the spectacular waterfalls.

If you are planning to treat yourself to this special trip, read on. Below, is my round-up of some of the best things to do while you are there.

Stay in a Fallsview room

The Niagara Falls Marriott offers rooms that have a panoramic view of the waterfalls. Staying in one of these luxury rooms is an experience you are not likely to forget.

For a special treat, order room service and enjoy a meal looking out over the Falls. Provided you book at the right time of the year, you will be able to enjoy a spectacular light show and fireworks. In some rooms, it is possible to view the Niagara Falls while lying in bed.

Enjoy fine dining with a view

Most people cannot get enough of looking at the waterfalls while they are staying in the area. Fortunately, there are lots of ways to do exactly that. One of the most popular options is having a meal in a restaurant near the Falls. There are several that have tables which enable you to enjoy fantastic views.

On the Canadian side, the Skylon Tower is one of the most popular. If you’ve never eaten in a revolving restaurant, now is the time to do so.

Experience the full force of nature

The Falls look fantastic from above. But, if you want to truly experience the power of the Niagara Falls you have to go journey to the base of that wall of water. There are 2 ways to do it.

From the Canadian side, you can take the Journey Behind the Falls tour. This is another experience you are not likely to forget. You are taken down in an elevator to a cave system that runs behind the actual waterfall. After a bit of a walk, you emerge onto a walkway that is right opposite the base of the falls. It feels like you are almost within touching distance. If you are not wearing one of the ponchos that are provided, you are going to get wet for sure.

The other option is to take a boat trip. This will take you surprisingly close to the base of the falls. It is perfectly safe, but again you will get soaked by the spray if you are not wearing a waterproof, of some sort. Both tours provide you with a chance to take some truly special photos.

Other experiences you are sure to enjoy in the area

There are several other ways to see the Falls. But, it would be a shame for your itinerary to focus solely on the waterfalls. While you are there, you really should take in more of what the area has to offer.
