I love to take photos and take hundreds every week – sometimes every day! I think it’s a shame that these days we take so many photos but they end up saved “in the cloud” with perhaps one or two shared on social media.

As well as this, there’s the fact that these days families don’t necessarily live as close to each other as they used to. We might end up with grandparents living far away, and that can mean they don’t feel like they’re in touch with what’s going on in our lives. My mum lives in the same city as me, but we don’t see her as often as we probably should because I’m a working single parent and I don’t drive.

The result is that often we can end up only sharing the highly edited highlights of our lives with family members: the annual school photo; something cute a child has done here or there.

But my mum loves photos, and she loves to see what her grandchildren have been up to. We always give her photo gifts for her birthday and Christmas, but what about the hundreds of photos we take the rest of the time through the year? And what about her other grandchildren besides S?

I had been looking for a solution to this, when I was contacted by Neveo – an app that is designed exactly for this sort of situation.

What is Neveo?

Neveo is an app that allows you to collate your best photos from the month – and those of other family members – into a printed photo journal to be sent to the grandparent or friend of your choice.

How does Neveo work?

The app is really simple to use; you download it and set up an account, then simply upload your photos as you go through the month. You can add captions and notes with each image, and you can invite other family members to contribute too.

The app will remind you towards the end of the month that your journal will be printed soon, so you can get those last minute photos uploaded. Then the journal is printed with the photos and notes you have uploaded, and posted to the person you’ve chosen.

We created a photo journal for Nana and she was so pleased when it arrived!

What I love about this service is that it allows us to share our day to day moments with Nana, as well as the annual school photo and the framed prints and so on. I love being able to add notes to explain what’s going on in a photo.

The collaborative aspect of this is great too; it means my mum gets one journal with photos not only of S but also of her cousins. These come all in one journal for the month so that she has everything all in one place rather than receiving one set of photos from us and another from my sister and so on.

Neveo key features

  • Automatic layout of photos – all you have to do is upload them to the app and add your notes
  • Worldwide delivery of a monthly journal – again, this is automatic. All you need to do is enter the address when you sign up.
  • 100% secure – photos are stored on protected servers.

How much does Neveo cost?

Neveo costs £9.99 per month for a 50-photo monthly album, or £14.99 per month for a 100-photo monthly album. You can sign up for free, and cancel at any time.
