Welcome to this week’s card reading, which is using the Work Your Light deck of oracle cards.

Here’s how this works: take a deep breath and calm your thoughts. If you have a specific question, hold it in your mind as you look at the image below, and choose the card or cards you feel most drawn to. Once you’ve chosen your card, scroll down to take a look at your reading.

Next week’s reading could be with a different deck of cards. Keep an eye out on Facebook for a poll as to which one I should use.

Don’t forget to please leave a comment either here or on Facebook (or you can send me a private message if you prefer) to let me know how you get on. I really appreciate your feedback as it helps me to know not only that you’ve read the post, but also that you have found it useful and want me to continue with these readings.

Here are this week’s cards:

1. Boundaries

Where do you need to establish better boundaries?

This is an inquiry card, asking you to stop and think for a while about where you need to work on boundaries in your life. Often we say yes to things we don’t really want to do, or before thinking it through. In the long run though this can lead to resentment and bad feeling which is never a good thing. Better to set out a clear boundary from the beginning: I don’t answer the phone after 9pm or I don’t lend money.
Once you have boundaries you need to work on enforcing them because others will naturally push against them. It is also important to look at why we are having trouble with boundaries. Often when we say yes but mean no, it’s because we are looking for something ourselves: approval, the feeling of being needed, acceptance and so on.
This week, spend a little time looking at where you can implement and enforce boundaries in your life – and at why you have had trouble with these in the past.

2. Play

Have fun. Celebrate. Don’t be so serious.

This is an action card; you are being asked to do something – to play! In this life we can often get bogged down in all of the grown up stuff. We go to work; we pay the bills; we teach the children discipline and respect and other very serious things. We might do things that are designated as “leisure time” but these are often still pursued with seriousness and attachment to the outcome. When was the last time you just danced around to your favourite song, or giggled until your belly hurt? When was the last time you genuinely had fun? When was the last time you did something just for the pleasure of doing it, and not because of any particular desired outcome? When we do things just for fun, this is when our creative side is able to come to the fore – and when we are able to hear what our guides and angels have been trying to tell us. Do what makes your heart sing, and your heart will sing. This is something we should all schedule into our week, if not into every single day: time to just have fun.
This week, set aside a couple of hours to take your inner child on a date. Do whatever makes your heart sing, whatever makes you smile – without even considering the outcome. You may find this hard to begin with, if it’s been a while since you last did this – but it is worth persevering as you learn new things about yourself and the things you enjoy.

3. Akasha

Your guidance is divinely guided.

Akasha exists in the fifth dimension and the Akashic records are like a big library of souls. This is where the history of your soul and every other soul is stored. Certain aspects of our lives are planned out before we arrive here; we may have agreed to learn certain things, to experience certain hardships and so on. That doesn’t mean we don’t have free will; we do – it’s just that there are certain things that were always going to happen. This is what is meant by the saying, what is meant for you, won’t miss you. If you have been waiting for a sign to go ahead with something, this is it. This moment in your life could well be one of those predestined moments and something that was always meant to happen, even if it doesn’t necessarily feel good.
This week, spend some time in quiet contemplation. Try to quiet the chatter of your ego in your mind, and listen to that quiet, still voice deep inside of you which will help to guide the way.

4. Fill up your well

Retreat. Rest. Refuel.

We’ve all heard the saying, you can’t pour from an empty cup and that is exactly what this card is all about. The most important thing we can do to help those around us is to ensure that we are well rested and cared for and feeling good. Without this essential self care we can be of no use to those around us. Have you been working too hard lately? Rushing around to help others without really thinking about your own wellbeing? This card is here to remind you that you do need to take care of yourself or you will eventually be of no use to others and may end up causing others harm through your own lack of self care.
This week, set aside dedicated time to fill up your well. That might be an hour reading a book; it might be going for a walk or getting an early night. Focus on taking care of yourself and remember what Lisa Nichols says: I will fill my cup until it overflows, and I serve you from my saucer.
