Cut Out Sugar

When you eat a large amount of sugar every day your immune system becomes suppressed and not able to function correctly. This leaves you vulnerable towards all kinds of bacteria and viruses. Instead, give your kids healthy snacks like fruits to curb their sweet cravings.

Give Them A Probiotic Everyday

Probiotics are packed with good bacteria that restore the health of your gut and can boost your little one’s immune system. Experts agree that at least 80% of your immune system is concentrated in your gut so it is important to take care of your kid’s digestive system to keep them as healthy as possible.

Give Them A Vitamin D Supplement

Recent research seems to indicate that children and babies who are deficient in Vitamin D are more likely to have a poor immune system. Because exposure to the sun is dangerous coupled with the fact that it is difficult to meet your vitamin D requirement through your diet alone, you should make sure you give your children a vitamin D supplement every day.

Keep Them Moving

Exercise is important for kids and for adults. When you exercise, you strengthen your lungs and help your lymph nodes to drain effectively. The lymphatic system forms a crucial part in the functioning of the immune system. However, for your lymph nodes to work properly they need to be drained and they only drain when you move.

Get Them To Bed Early

Sleep is very important for your child. Children between the ages of two and five years need at least eleven hours of sleep each night for them to be healthy and develop properly. That means you need to get them to bed early so that they get enough rest and so that they can grow and stay healthy.

Stick To Your Routine

When you have small children, it can seem impossible to stick to a good routine. Stress greatly affects the immune system, switching on the fight or flight response in our bodies. Kids all deal with stress differently and little things can stress kids out. Having a good, routine will help to reduce any anxiety your child may be experiencing and thus their immune systems will stay strong and healthy.

Let Them Drink More Water

Your body is made up of a large percentage of water and if your child is not consuming the requisite amount of water they need each day they will feel unwell. When you make sure that your child drinks enough water, they will stay hydrated and their bodies will be better adapted to fighting off viruses than when they are dehydrated.

Try A Grain Free Diet

A large amount of grains is hard on the digestive system and for some children, it can cause an autoimmune reaction. This causes inflammation throughout the body and can lead to rashes, constipation and mood imbalances. Fortunately, there are varieties of delicious alternatives to grains like quinoa or rice.

Teach Them To Practice Good Hygiene

The leading cause of illness in children is poor hand hygiene. Kids can get rather dirty and the majority of them will wipe their nose and then continue their day as if nothing had happened. You cannot do anything about the hygiene of other children but you can teach your child to practice good habits. Always stress the importance of washing their hands before they eat and after using the bathroom. It may also be a good idea to put a little bottle of hand sanitizer in your child’s school bag so that they can always clean their hands even if they do not have access to soap.
