Ok, don’t tell anyone, but… my hair is not naturally blonde. Actually I’m not entirely sure what colour it is naturally – but I do know that I have to dye it every 6 weeks or so to avoid having terrible roots.

When the lovely people at Osmo challenged me to “spring clean my hair” and try their products, I decided to really step up to the challenge. My hair had grown quite long, and the most I’d ever done was have the ends trimmed here and there. Between that, the bleach and the winter weather, it wasn’t looking – or feeling – too great.

In fact, when I tried to find a “before” photo to illustrate this, I came up blank. The closest I could find was this pirate selfie with S:

This photo doesn’t really show what bad condition my hair was in; I was going through huge amounts of conditioner, and still the ends were constantly tangled and nasty.

These are the products I received from Osmo:

OSMO®’s Detoxify Shampoo’s deep clarifying cleanser is designed to effectively remove product build-up and impurities whilst retaining the hair’s natural moisture. The hair will be super clean with the unique formulation which combines Rosemary and Tea Tree Oil. Jojoba and Wheatgerm help condition and soften.

OSMO®’s Intensive Deep Repair Mask is an intensive hydrating hair treatment mask to restore moisture balance. Extract of Jojoba adds shine, manageability and smoothes the cuticle, Patchouli Oil helps to tame frizz and improve the health of the scalp and Ylang Ylang soothes the hair while controlling excess sebum production.

OSMO®’s Berber Oil™ is a nourishing hair treatment to help replenish and strengthen hair for noticeable results. The unique blend of oils contains Argan Oil which is a powerful antioxidant that provides intense nourishment to dry and damaged hair.

I decided at this point that if I was going to “spring clean” my hair, I was going to do it properly! I made an appointment with the hairdresser, planning to have my hair cut really short!

I used the Osmo products before my appointment, and the Deep Repair Mask actually did such a good job, I considered cancelling my appointment! But I knew my hair was pretty much wrecked, and also that I had long since run out of patience with it; it required so much conditioner to detangle it, that it took forever to dry and then I ended up just tying it back any way because it was such a pain.

When I went to the hairdresser, she was not keen on cutting my hair quite so short; I don’t think she wanted me to leave in tears! We compromised with a neat, jaw-length bob. I tried the Osmo products again after my hair had been cut, and here are the results:

The hair cut has got rid of most of the damage, but with it being bleached I still need to look after it!

I’ve started using the Detoxify Shampoo and Intensive Deep Repair Mask once a week, to keep my hair in good condition. I love the way it cares for my hair and leaves it feeling clean and smooth. I try to do it on a weekend so that I can allow my hair to dry naturally and really give it a break from products and styling.

The Berber Oil though, I use every time I wash my hair. It’s brilliant for smoothing and detangling my hair and allowing a really sleek finish. It’s also great for taming the static, flyaway hair I sometimes get now that my hair is shorter and doesn’t have the length to weigh it down.

I have to say, I love it! Now I have a weekly routine which allows me to care for my hair and hopefully prevent too much damage in the future, but it’s much less effort than it was before and I think it looks pretty good!

So, what do you think? Do you like my new look?

That’s a great idea. It’s worth to try. I often get problems with my hair, sometimes it’s so dry. I need a mask or moist shampoo. Moreover, my hair color is changing quite fast after dyeing. Your suggest is so wonderful, I will try it on now.
