Parenting has its pros and cons, but undeniably, the joys are much bigger than the trials. Though it is hard work and fun at the same time, it often gets a little overwhelming. You keep stressing out whether you have done a “good-enough” job of raising your child and whether the values you have taught them will survive the test of time…well, the list goes on. Here is a list of three things you can do to make this task more fun:

1. Don’t worry too much- Don’t keep thinking about yourself as a parent and keep measuring yourself up against others. You are probably doing your best and worrying will only lead to a vicious cycle of stress and, god forbid, more stress about being a stressful and inefficient parent.

2. Play with them– Let your kids be your priority for a set time every day. Play with them, talk, listen to their stories and have fun in general. Usually taking an hour to play with your little one will make a lot more difference than spending two hours with her while constantly checking your phone.

3. Take time off- Take some time off for yourself to recharge your batteries. Do the things you love, or just have a little break and distract yourself. Some great ways to do in your time off are to play interesting games on bingo sites online, to pursue a hobby, or to make a craft. Even when being a parent is a full-time job, we all need some time for ourselves. Until you decide to be happy yourself, it will get very difficult to keep your kids happy.

So go ahead, and we wish you luck on your journey of being an ideal parent. But if that doesn’t go as planned, remember that stressing about it is not the solution.
