On Saturday morning S woke up way after me (you might have seen my Sunday Photo
). I had to get up and tidy the house, as we had guests coming – I think they call that sod’s law! She eventually woke up and played with the Reading Eggs app on my tablet while I ran around trying to tidy the house up!
This is S graciously agreeing to pose for a photo with her great aunt and uncle. They only live about half an hour away; Auntie Janet is my dad’s sister. But since my nan and my dad have both died, they don’t come to the area very often so we don’t really see them. This was only the second time S had met them, and she was very quiet and played with her toys while we chatted and looked at photos of my dad when he was very young.
… Speaking of which, here is a photo of my dad when he was a young boy. My parents divorced when I was 9, and my dad died when I was 23. I have very few photos of him, and had never seen any of him when he was much younger so it was lovely to be shown a whole album of my dad’s side of the family from about 1935 onwards.
On Sunday morning, S decided a bit of light reading was in order before we got up.
Asda sent us some fancy dress costumes, and while I was trying to change our bed sheets, S decided actually, she’d like to be a monster instead. She spent a good while running up and down on the bed, shouting raaaawr!
After a turn as Sully, S decided she wanted to be Anna from Frozen… mainly because this costume came with a brooch on the front that sings about three lines from the Do You Wanna Build a Snowman song. This was the first time in months that she’s worn a dress voluntarily; she delighted in wearing it for a quick trip to the shops, showing it off to anyone who commented!
