A few days ago I published a post about why we should all love our Klout scores, and then followed it up with a list of tips for improving your Klout score. Today, I’m going to show you how to give someone +K. I must begin this by saying I do not consider myself to be in any way an expert. If I’ve missed something glaringly obvious, or you know something that can help others with this, do please leave a comment and share the knowledge with us all.
For me, the trickiest part of giving someone +K is finding their Klout profile in order to do so! There are a couple of ways to do this
If someone has recently given you +K, you will find them in your notifications. If you want to return the love, go to your “Measures” screen and select “Other Networks” from below the graph. In the screen shot below I’ve scrolled down a bit so that you can see the “Recent Activity” part of the page.
This gives you a list of activity in networks other than Facebook or Twitter – so it won’t just be +K that you’ve received, but Instagram, Google+ and any other network you have linked.
When you locate the notification you wish to respond to, just click on the person’s name. In this example, I will give +K to Hannah of HiBabyBlog because she’s the most recent notification I have.
When you click on the person’s name, you are taken to their Klout profile.
If you want to give +K to someone who hasn’t given it to you first, you need to locate their Klout profile. To do that, enter
in your browser address bar, followed by their Twitter handle. This should bring up the correct person.
If you can’t find their profile that way, use the Search function on the left of the screen to find the person you’re looking for. If you can’t see a Search function there, simply click on your own profile picture in the left-hand bar, and you will be taken to your own profile – with a Search function on the left-hand side.
So here is Hannah’s profile. Next to her photo, you can see a short bio she has written, and then some of the topics she is known for. To give her +K, simply click on one of the topics.
When you click on the topic, it will tell you you’ve given that person +K, and ask if you want to share it on Twitter or Facebook. You don’t need to do this; you can just click on another part of the page and the box will disappear. If you want to tweet or Facebook what you’ve done though, just click on the little icon and it will do it all for you.
As I said before, the hard part is finding the person’s profile. Once you know where they are, you can give them +K on whichever topics you like. You can usually give +K ten times per day; as you can see from the screenshow above, when you give +K it will tell you how many more you can give today.
As with all of my posts, I welcome feedback. If you’ve found this interesting/useful, do please comment. Similarly, if it was unclear, confusing or just didn’t quite hit the mark, do please let me know.
