Well, the Easter holidays are over and life has gone back to normal… but there are still some fun things going on this week!

Monday 13th – Game of Thrones, Season 5!

The return of the most illegally downloaded show in the world. I love this show; it’s one of the few around that have made me consider getting a TV aerial. Season five premieres in the UK on Monday 13th – but in the US and 170 countries worldwide, it’s showing the night before. So keep away from social media on Monday, if you’ve friends in the US – or you might stumble across a few spoilers!
Fun fact: Charlie Chaplin’s granddaughter was in Game of Thrones – she played Rob Stark’s wife – who died, surprisingly. As did he… and a gazillion other characters!

Tuesday 14th – Simple Minds at Portsmouth Guildhall

Things I know about Simple Minds: the singer was once married to Patsy Kensit, and they sang that amazing song from the Breakfast Club in 1985. They’re enjoying something of a comeback though, and on this tour they’re playing their greatest hits, as well as tracks from their new album Big Music. Mojo have called this their best album in 30 years and the NME listed them as one of the 100 most influential bands.

Tuesday 14th – Netherlands National Circus

The amazing circus returns to Southsea Common until Sunday 16th April. And there’s a chance to become a part of the show if you have some circus skills! Apply via their website by Tuesday, and you could be called for an audition later in the week, with Wave’s very own Rick Jackson as one of the judged. Even if you’re not auditioning to join in, this is definitely worth a visit with some amazing talents on show.

Friday 17th-Sunday 19th: Spring Steam Gala at Swanage

Loads of steam trains will be on show on the Swanage railway, which is a fantastic treat – not just for train enthusiasts but everyone who likes a good day out – and of course children who love trains. There will passenger and freight trains running, with the opportunity to ride loads of different ones. On top of this there are exhibitions, and a cinema coach at Corfe Castle station.

Friday 17th – Saturday 18th: Faulty Towers Dining Experience at the Mayflower

“Don’t mention the war!” This is the hit show that’s been really popular in London is on tour, and next weekend they’re in Southampton. This is an actual meal, where they take over the restaurant and the audience has a three course meal as the performers move around the “stage” between them.

Well, that’s us done for another week. Thanks for reading/listening and I’ll be back again next week with another 5 things.

Game of Thrones Season 5? Does that mean I have been telling myself for 5 years that I will start watching it?
Please tell me it’s on Netflix?

It’s not. Am gutted. I’ve seen the first three seasons but not four or five. Am desperately trying to avoid spoilers. It’s amazing.

Great post. The strange thing is that the massive geek inside me for weeks has been counting down to tonight’s show. And then all of a sudden I was taken back by reading on twitter that it’s on. I’ve let my inner geek down ;) worse case is that I’m working tonight so have set it on record…..so probably no twitter tomorrow…unless I can watch it after work.

Anyway enough games of thrones.

The faulty towers tour looks and sounds amazing!! Looks like a great week!
