This is my first set of Weekly Wishes for 2015… Last week I posted a list of my blogging goals for the year. In order to achieve those goals, as well as my personal ones, I need to actually set realistic, weekly goals and stick to them!

This week has been hard. I have a chest infection, and have barely been able to walk without using an inhaler. There have been two trips to the doctor for medication, but we’ve barely left the house other than to pop to the shops to get supplies. I’ve tried my best to spend quality time with S, but she’s a boisterous toddler who wants me to push her round and round in circles in a cardboard box, then chase her round the house and come upstairs fifty times a day to wash her hands… and it’s hard work at the best of times! I fear that I have been a proper crappy mother, and S has had a rubbish Christmas of too much TV and not enough fun.

Enough of that… how did I get on with last week’s goals?

Enjoy my time off – well, in terms of the fact we’ve slept in most mornings, had lots of cuddles and spent a lot of time together, yes I suppose I have enjoyed my time off. I am disappointed though; I would have liked to take S out more, to go to different places and have more visitors. We had to cancel a lot of plans, and not make others, because I was ill.

Get the podcast set up – this didn’t happen. I have researched a few bits and bobs, but the actual part where I record a podcast, edit it and publish it for download… nope. I don’t want my first ever podcast to be of me struggling to speak as I cut out coughing fits! I’ve no choice but to delay the launch of the podcast until I’m able to complete a sentence!

Tidy up after Christmas – er… well, sort of. Bits and bobs have been put away, and the house is not a full-on tip any more… but I would have hoped to have taken down decorations and packed them away by now. I have a real tree this year though, and I can’t find any details on my local council website of how to get it collected – something they allegedly do. If we had a fake tree like last year, it would have been packed away ages ago.. probably!

This week’s goals
Get back to work! – For the next six weeks, I have agreed to work a minimum of two days a week in an office out of town. With my recording at Wave for 5 Things, and S’s day off nursery on a Wednesday, this allows me a maximum of one day a week to do the work I was doing across three days last year… this could be interesting… or a lot of evenings and late nights! Head down, Vicky!
Make up for lost time with S – I am assuming the antibiotics and steroids I’m taking will actually take effect within the next 48 hours, in which case I want to do something special with S on our day off on Wednesday… as well as next weekend, if I can. I’m sick of her having to just hang about in the house with me; when I ask what she wants to do, she invariably says either “park” or “catch a bus” so I’m sure I can find a way to brighten her day a little!
Put the house to rights – In order to accommodate Christmas, I moved part of my sofa and S’s trampoline upstairs. The sofa is actually quite useful in my bedroom, but the only door I could get the trampoline through was S’s bedroom… which means the trampoline takes up the entire floor space between the bed and the wardrobe! The house is in chaos, and has been since we moved in. It’s driving me mad. I can’t fix it all in a week, but I can make a good stab at it!
How has your week been? Have you set goals for the week ahead?

Keep going with the podcast efforts! Once you’ve got the first one or two under your belt, it’s amazing how much easier they become.

Thanks Tim. I’m told once you’ve done a few the umming and ahhing slow down a bit! I’m hoping my limited radio experience will help with that. Ha!

I hope you feel better soon! Being sick is the worst and it sounds like you have it bad. Good luck with your wishes this week, I hope you are able to get everything accomplished.

Thanks Angela, I’m so bored of it now! Hoping it will clear up and I can get on with 2015!
