Weekly Wishes (2)


Phew, what a hectic week! It started off normally enough, but by Wednesday we were in full-on Christmas mode. It was S’s day off nursery, but nursery had organised a trip to a local church that has a fabulous Christmas tree festival, so we arranged to meet them there. S always gets a bit over-excited if I’m there and so are people from nursery; I think she’s not sure how to behave. She chose the option where you lay on the floor in the church, jump up and down and pull mummy’s hand. It’s a shame because there were over 100 Christmas trees and we didn’t see most of them. Never mind though; they do the festival every year so we’ll try again next year! After a quick trip home for lunch we went back out to see the local panto, Mother Goose – it was great. Then we had to run back across town to nursery for S’s parents’ evening. It was a really hectic day. Thursday I was recording in Swanwick, something I normally do on a Friday but this Friday I had arranged to go on a trip with nursery to see a production of The Little Red Hen with nursery. It was great and everyone enjoyed themselves. We spent Saturday with lots of visitors, playing and making a mess, and had planned to have a quiet day with just the two of us yesterday, but ended up being filmed by ITV for a bit on their Good Morning Britan show about foodbanks! Bonkers!

So, how did I do with this week’s goals?

Get my head down and work… Well, I did get some work done, but nowhere near as much as I needed to… I think to be honest this will be a running theme between now and the end of the year. I need a few more hours in the day, I think!

Meditate twice – I totally failed at this; didn’t even manage once! I’m disappointed in myself as I’ve been really stressed and I know it would have helped.

Have coffee with a friend – this was more about having actual conversations with friends than actually having coffee – but I did have a friend round for coffee this week, and it was her birthday too so that was nice. It makes a big difference to my day if I do more than just drop S to nursery, work for several hours and then collect her.

This week’s goals:
Meditate twice – I failed at this last week, so need to try harder this week… by which I mean I need to be more strict with myself about switching everything off and meditating!
Spend some quality time with S – we’ve had such a hectic week, I feel like we just need some time sitting about, doing puzzles and playing. When we don’t have that time reconnecting with each other, I notice a change in S’s behaviour – and at this time of year she’s already over excited and finding it hard to do as she’s asked!
Get ahead with some work – A lot of my work is done on an ad hoc basis, so it’s difficult to get “ahead” with any of it – but for one of my clients, I have a list of all the blog posts I need to write up to the end of the year. There’s no excuse; I can just get them all written and scheduled, and it’ll be one less thing to worry about each week.
