My Life with S

Reasons to be Cheerful

Reasons to be Cheerful (1)

My week has been… hectic, in the kind of way where you feel like you’re constantly running around, but you don’t really have a lot to show for it. We have had a fair amount of fun though, so I suppose I shouldn’t complain!

Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week…

The start of the acceptable Christmas season – if it weren’t for the house move, and the fact we have a real tree this year instead of a fake one, we would have had our decorations up ages ago. For normals, it’s unacceptable for Christmas to start in September… but now it’s okay. Our tree was delivered this week and fits perfectly into our living room. We decorated it together and S loves the lights and bells – I was treated to a wonderful rendition of Jingle Bells as she shook the bells she’d stolen from the tree yesterday. We’ve been making mince pies and spending a lot of time looking at Christmas lights, and we even went to the panto. I am completely into the Christmas spirit now and loving it.

Wise words from friends – Since last Thursday, I’ve had several conversations with friends that have made me feel more positive and happy about my life and the way things are going. I feel like if I’m having a crappy time there are people I can call who will talk sense to me – which is a massive privilege in these days of bullshit and self-serving loons.

My little pickle – Seriously, I could put S on my list of reasons to be cheerful every single week, but it would get boring to read. She’s been really full of beans lately and sometimes that can be challenging – but this is the first Christmas where she’s really been aware of what is going on, and she’s loving it. It’s amazing to see her face light up at the sight of a Christmas tree, to see her clapping along at the panto, It’s great fun and I’m doing my best to enjoy every moment!

I love the Xmas spirit! The singing of Xmas carols and sparkly trees, heaven. (Btw, I would never tire of hearing your child being a reason to be cheerful, it's wonderful ) x Ojo Henley recently posted...Reasons to be CheerfulMy Profile

Hi Vicky, if S gives you reason every single minute of the day, then why not shout it from the hill tops? She is certainly at that age when Christmas is exciting (to be honest I never passed that age!) and I bet her singing voice is great (or maybe not). It's good to have friends that can help us see the positive side of life, even when we doubt there is one. Even in the bleakest of situations there has to be an incy, wincy glimmer of positivity...Or so I like to think. Don't go eating too many mince pies and have a jolly good week. I've never grown out of Christmas either, I love it- and having a toddler has brought a whole new level of fun to it! And there's no such thing as too many mince pies! We've been enjoying making them with last year's home made mincemeat!
