I do a weekly bit on Wave 105 to tell you five things you need to know for the week… Here are this week’s five things!
Monday 15th: Mission Christmas Total Revealed!
Tomorrow morning at 8am, Wave 105 will reveal the total raised for their Mission Christmas appeal. As I mentioned last week, they aimed to gather presents for 54,000 children this year. The question is, have they done it? Tune in at 8am to find out!
Tuesday 16th: I’ve Seen Santa begins at Winchester Discovery Centre
If you’ve got kids, this is ideal. A lovely, festive bit of family theatre, blending music, puppetry and storytelling by Blunderbus productions. The performances are aimed at children aged 3-7, and is an hour long – so ideal for the little people who perhaps couldn’t sit through a whole panto performance. There’s even a guest appearance from Santa at the end!
Tuesday 16th – 18th: Lyme Regis Baptist Church Christmas Tree Festival
This is the seventh Christmas tree festival in Lyme Regis and it’s bound to be pretty spectacular. I love a good Christmas tree, so a festival of them is like… er… Christmas to me! I went to the Christmas tree festival in Salisbury recently, and it was amazing; Christmas trees are decorated by local organisations and put on display. Some of them have really elaborate designs, while others are just breathtaking in their simplicity. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Thursday 18th – 23rd: Santa at the Spinnaker Tower
What’s more fun for children at Christmas, than to go see Santa? What about going to see him on the viewing decks, 100 feet above Portsmouth Harbour? Santa is flying in on the 18th for his last visit before he starts work this year. The Spinnaker tower was famously Portsmouth’s big thing to celebrate the millennium… though not actually finished until 2005, it is definitely a sight to behold. You can enjoy the view from the decks while your kids make sure Santa knows what they want for Christmas this year!
Saturday 20th: Wave 105 Christmas party at the O2 Southampton
Wave 105’s Colossal Cracker of the Christmas Party is on at the Guildhall, with Steve Power and Simon Clarke hosting. The Guildhall will be decorated in a Winter Wonderland theme, and there will be snow machines – plural on the snow machines there. There’s also a live appearance from Bjorn Again. What’s not to love!
Have a great week; I’ll see you back here again next week for the final 5 Things of the year…
