Every now and then, I like to pretend money is no object, and that I can move to the country with S to somewhere with a big garden… and someone to maintain it for us! In this fantasy, I am also able to drive and have a lovely car – so we don’t need to worry about living in the arse end of nowhere… in fact, the arse end of nowhere is preferable!

One of my favourite things to do is spend half an hour or so on estate agent websites, planning where my future house will be. Just lately, I’ve been looking at property for sale in Devon.

I’ve fallen in love with this particular house; it has three bedrooms and is located in the rather marvellously named Cockington Village, which is near Torquay. It’s Grade 2 listed, and detached – so no noise from the neighbours! In fact, it’s set in a ridiculous amount of garden, at the end of a private drive, means I’m unlikely to be disturbed by people noise… I love the idea of that!

Apparently the village of Cockington is well known for its pink cottages and chocolate-box appeal. It’s in a conservation area too, which means no extensions or loft conversions popping up – though from the look of the photos, I’ve a feeling the neighbours could have a rave and I would be none the wiser!

Of course, the third bedroom would be converted into a study for me, with built-in bookshelves along one wall and a desk looking out over the garden. This house also has three bathrooms – so S and I can have one each, and a spare for guests. There’s a greenhouse so we can grow some…er… plants and stuff. I like the idea of growing simple fruits and vegetables with S at home. And also a garage for four cars… so we can have a car, a motorbike with a side car, lots of bikes and outdoor toys to play on our massive lawn… maybe a ride-on car for S. The world is our oyster!

I love this game; I can spend ages imagining what I’ll do with each room in the house, which room will be mine or S’s, where we’ll put things. It brightens my mood of a morning… silly, I know. Do you play this game too? Is it just me?

Oh, I love to do this, too! I am liking your choice there – looks so beautiful, and built-in bookshelves spanning an entire wall would be fabulous!
