S starts school this September, and she’s really excited about it. We’ve already got the various logo jumpers and t shirts for school, but there were other important purchases to be made – most notably, a pair of black shoes! We were delighted then, when Debenhams contacted us about reviewing their range of school shoes. I have to say, I wasn’t even aware that Debenhams sold school shoes… then again, I’ve never had to buy school shoes before!

Debenhams has a large range of school shoes, with a variety of different buying options. If you can’t find what you want in store (or you don’t fancy dragging your child around the shop), you can do your shopping online and either have it delivered to the store for free, or have it delievered straight to your door. We opted for the free Click & Collect service, and S’s shoes were available to collect the following afternoon.

I think it’s safe to say she likes her new shoes – and they were only £16, which I couldn’t believe! We chose shoes with a velcro fastening because they’re easier for her to put on/take off than buckles or laces. These ones were a big hit because of the bow on the front!

We’ve yet to have the conversation about wearing white socks, so of course when asked to try on shoes, S opted for Batman!

Because S’s new school shoes were less expensive than expected, we were able to pick up some other school essentials: trousers, skirts and even a couple of polo shirts as well! I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised – I was dreading the drama of shopping for school uniform, as well as an expected massive financial outlay but the uniform from Debenhams seems to be good quality and very inexpensive – and now I know I can order it online, we’ll be doing that in future!

NB we used a gift card to get a pair of shoes from Debenhams for the purposes of review. All words and opinions are our own.

Oh gosh this brings back memories! I still remember buying my daughter’s first pair of school shoes in the middle of August whilst on a trip to Edinburgh, as you do… brought tears to my eyes.
Hope your little one has a wonderful first day. Very good value, I think I paid double that for our first pair!
