We love being Parragon Book Buddies; S loves to get a new book in the post each month… and this month was definitely no exception! We received a copy of The Night Before Chrismtas by Clement C Moore and Harriet Muncaster

Of course, everyone knows Moore’s classic poem; we’ve all read it – or been read it – a million times. But I don’t think I’d ever actually had it in a book on its own. And this one is a beautiful example.

When the words have already been written – and are arguably some of the best known in the world – the illustrations are what makes a book different.

S loves this  book; she loves to spend time looking at all the pictures and talking about what’s going on.

I love that some of the pages have more white space with just words and a little picture at the bottom; it breaks the book up a little and makes it seem less busy. S loves this page because of all the shiny presents!

This is a beautiful book to be treasured; Harriet Muncaster has done well to take on such a well known poem, producing wonderful, modern illustrations to bring it to a new generation.

We’re really enjoying reading this book at bed time; S often takes it into bed with her and I’ve caught her reading it to herself in the mornings too! A definite treasured addition to our collection of Christmas books!

 Thanks for reading.

The Night Before Christmas is my favourite Christmas story, it was tradition for my dad to read it to me every Christmas Eve and I’ve carried this on with my children. This looks like a wonderful version of the story, thanks for sharing with #ReadWithMe

I love this story too, I read it to my daughter every Christmas eve even though she can now read it herself! This book looks lovely to read #readwithme

My children and I had a special Christmas book that we read every Christmas Eve when they were little and I am so sad that they have grown out of it now! This sounds like a perfect Christmas Eve book! #readwithme

That sounds like a lovely book. My niece, who is nearly 3, would love it.
