Weeky Weigh In #15

This week has beenk bonkers; I was in London on Monday evening, Tuesday was my birthday, and on Friday I was in Bristol for Blog Camp! I don’t think I’ve done too badly with food, though…

Goal for last week

Last week’s goal was “don’t f*** up.” I did have some chocolate for my birthday on Tuesday, and on Friday at Blog Camp I had a scone with cream and jab, but other than that I’ve been keeping my sugar intake to a minimum.

Goal for this week

This week I want to cut back my Coke Zero consumption. I used it to replace fat Coke when I went sugar free, because it tastes marginally less awful than Diet Coke… but it occurred to me this week that actually, I’ve crept up to a litre a day of this crap, just as I was drinking with fat Coke. And more to the point, I actually don’t even like the taste. I crave something cold and fizzy so I open a bottle and then pretty much drink it out of habit or a hope the caffeine in it will perk me up a bit on a bad afternoon.

Studies have shown that people who drink diet drinks end up consuming more calories than if they just drank water – even though there are no calories in the diet drinks. I had always intended to cut Coke out completely, not replace one bottle of crap with another. I have a crate of fizzy water behind the door in the kitchen; it’s time to start drinking them!

Exercise

I’ve not done any deliberate exercise this week, but there was a lot of wandering about Covent Garden looking for a hotel on Monday, and a fair bit of walking with the toddler on Wednesday. On Friday I wandered about looking for the conference centre, and then the train station, and yesterday we went to a farm for the afternoon. I can’t claim to have taken a huge number of steps on any of those days, but I do feel like I’ve been more active than other weeks.

Food/Drink

I ate a lot of steak last week, and am feeling quite pleased with myself for that. I like steak! S has been decidedly unreceptive when it comes to meals though, often requesting only a cream cheese sandwich or a cracker for any of her meals. This means that I tend to eat better on the days when she is fed at nursery – and so does she.

Weight & Measurements

Weight: 166lb – one pound on from last week
Neck: 14″ same as last week
Bust: 36″ – one inch off
Waist: 35″ – same as last week
Hips: 37.5″ – half an inch off
R&L Thigh: 23″/23″ Same as last week
R&L Calf: 14.5″/14.5″ Same as last week

One pound on – I think that’s probably delayed weight gain from the last few weeks! I’m surprised but pleased to see an inch come off my bust and half an inch off my hips though. .

Keep going hun, you’re doing great. And even if you’ve put on a little weight you can see something is working because your measurements are going down. You definitely sound more positive lately. :)

Thanks Morgan. I feel like my skin is improving too and to be honest as long as my waist isn’t getting any bigger, I’m happy! My hernia is doing my head in, and I know the best way to deal with it is to sort out my diet and lose weight!

I am 100% with you on the fizzy drink thing. I drink a LOT of Pepsi Max but, like you said. I’m not sure I’m mad on the taste but rather the fizziness and the coldness (if those are even words?!?!). I cut it out a couple of years ago and would only have it as a treat if I went out for a meal or maybe if we were having a pizza night in. I can’t believe I did it for so long to be honest as I’m now in the depths of Coke Zero addiction and can’t see a way out!!!!

Good Luck for this week.

grrr, I think Coke knew exactly what they were doing when they brought out Zero. I gave up drinking fat Coke, and can’t stand the taste of Diet. If Zero didn’t exist I would have weaned myself off Coke products months ago! They’re so sneaky!

Keep it up hun! Mmmm steak…! We have sparkling water with fresh juice instead of fizzy drinks, took me a while to get used to but I really like it now! Thanks for linking with #BloggingToJogging xx
