My Life with S

Reasons to be Cheerful 2015-06-04

Reasons to be Cheerful

Happy Fursday!

Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

My Sister – My sister is basically looking after S for most of June for me. She had her on Monday so that I could go to a TV film screening; she’s having her tomorrow so that I can go to Blog Camp; she’s having her later this month so that I can go to Brit Mums Live. And the best part? S sees this as a treat, getting to spend time with her favourite auntie, De Af. The morning after my sister has looked after her, S is filled with stories of the things they did, which stories they read, where they went, what they saw – even if it’s all the same things we do together, apparently it’s better if De Af is involved.

Blog  Camp – Did I mention I’m going to Blog Camp in Bristol tomorrow? I’m so excited about it, I’ve not been to a Blog Camp event before and can’t wait to meet lots of bloggers and learn lots of great things.

Good Books – I really love a good book; when you find one that you can just get lost in, it just consumes you. And when you look up, you’re surprised to find you’re on the train or wherever. For me, even if a book is about something a bit distressing, the very act of reading and getting lost in a book is intensely relaxing for me. I’ve had a few books like this lately; on Monday I was reading a book (which I’ll review on Monday) on the train to London, and it was so amazing that I actually stood on the tube and read it, like a real live Londoner – normally I’m too busy listening for announcements and studying the tube maps to concentrate on a book!

What are you grateful for this week?

The book I read last week was Not My Father's Son by Alan Cumming. I couldn't put it down, I read it really quickly.
