Hello and welcome to another fun-filled week on the South Coast. Here are five things you need to know about this week…
[spreaker type=standard width=100% autoplay=false episode_id=5853510]
1. Monday 30th: Take a Walk int he Park Day
Does exactly what it says on the tin! The first day of the Easter Holidays for lots of us, and hopefully the weather will be reasonable and we can all have a lovely walk in the park!
2. Tuesday 31st: Back to the Future Exhibition at Portsmouth Museum
This year is the thirtieth anniversary of the release of the first Back to the Future movie, and also the year Marty McFly travels to in the second film. The Portsmouth Museum has an exhibition of Back to the Future memorabilia, from the collection of local fan Matthew Harrison. Items include props made for filming as well as official replicas and vintage products featured in the stories.
3. Wednesday 1st April: April Fools’ Day
Everyone knows April 1st is April Fools’ Day, right? The day where we all play practical jokes on each other before midday, or else the joke is on us. Keep an eye out for ridiculous news stories and social media updates on Wednesday; they’re bound to be everywhere! The most famous story is from 1957, when the BBC aired a Panorama episode showing Swiss farmers picking freshly grown spaghetti. It sparked loads of calls from people asking where they could buy a spaghetti plant
4. Friday 3rd: Good Friday
Good Friday is traditionally the day when we eat hot cross buns… remember the days when theyw ere only available for a few days over Easter? Cadbury Eggsplorer Easter Egg Trails are happening at National Trust sites all over the UK on the Easter weekend, starting on Good Friday. The National Trust have buried 21.5 tonnes of chocolate eggs for the event… I hope they’ve not buried them just yet!
5. Sunday 5th: Easter Sundy
Easter Day is the end of Lent – as Simon clarified last year when we both gave up social media for Lent and he wanted to be 100% sure when he would be able to go back to his Facebook! There are loads of events going on ll over the place, not just the egg hunts mentioned above. There’s also an Easter bonnet parade at Lyme Regis!
Well, that’s us done for another week. Thanks for reading/listening and I’ll be back again next week with another 5 things.
Oohh thanks for the memo re walk in the park day ... I had no idea! And for the reminder about April Fool's Day ... I always get caught out on fake news stories despite working for a newspaper!
