My Life with S

Reasons to be Cheerful 2015-02-12

Reasons to be Cheerful

This week I have been trying my hardest to help S to re-settle into nursery, after something appears to have unsettled her. In an effort to avoid further unsettling her, we’ve not really done much. While she’s been at nursery, I’ve been working. Nothing of note has happened!

Here are my reasons to be cheerful:

Potty Training – S seems to have decided she’d quite like to do a bit of potty training. We did this at Christmas, and S didn’t seem to understand that when she wasn’t wearing a nappy she would get wet if she didn’t use the potty. This time around, she seems to understand the concept, and has said several times, “I’ve got a wee!” with a rather funny sense of urgency as she dashes for the potty.

Business Shenanigans – I’m trying to be more productive with my business. I’ve actually started sorting out my website myself, and setting up various bits and bobs for a new networking group I’m setting up with some friends (see last week’s “hatching plans”). There are still a few things I need to just bite the bullet and get on with, but I’m glad to have made a start.

Lovely Friends – I have a friend who is an absolute legend, as proved this week when she texted to say “come see me at work” and proceeded to hand me a writing magazine she’d got for me. She apologised that it wasn’t a terribly exciting present – but actually it’s one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received. This is the same friend who regularly has S round for play dates with her daughter so that I can have a bit of a break, and a few weeks ago said “we’d love to have her overnight some time if you want a night off.” This woman is a bloody legend. And her daughter is one of S’s best friends too, which means for her it’s not “being looked after” so much as “awesome play date with my friend.”

love this! it's so lovely to sit and reflect on what's good about our lives rather than dwell on the negative. im on a mission to be more positive and put more smiles on people's faces so this has been a great motivating read :) #WeekendBlogHop

Great! I heard somewhere that getting into the habit of looking for something positive about our day actually helps to programme our brains to look on the bright side, long term!

How lucky you are to have such a great friend.. I would love to have that in my life nearby. I know lots of lovely people online but miss female friendship as had some great ones but a long time ago now. Do not stress potty training - it happens when it is ready. Just another thing the parenting police want to hit us over the head with You are clearly a proactive lady and I admire that Kate Holmes recently posted...What are my reasons to be cheerful this week?My Profile

I know, I'm so lucky she's so close by. I only met her after S was born but she's a true gem. Thanks for your lovely comment.
