My Life with S

Reasons to be Cheerful 2015-01-08

Reasons to be Cheerful (1)

We’re a week into 2015, and things are going swimmingly… by which I mean, it’s raining cats and dogs outside, and I could probably swim to nursery to collect S later!

I’m still struggling with the chest infection of doom, but am quietly hopeful that these new antibiotics will sort it out. They’re certainly making me sleep a lot, at least – which is a bonus!

Here are my Reasons to be Cheerful this week:

Bedtime Cuddles S still sleeps in my bed, and is still feeling a little clingy. Last night as I went to bed, she woke up and sat up in bed. I got into bed and said “ok darling, let’s lay down and go to sleep now…” to which she replied “no Mummy, big cuddle!” and promptly flopped forward onto my torso, and fell asleep there. It was the perfect end to my day, topped only by waking up with her still cuddling me.

Good Friends Yesterday I had to go to the hospital for a chest x-ray. When I booked the appointment I told them it was S’s day off nursery, and they said there was no problem; she could come with me. Having asked Facebook, I discovered it may not be best to bring S to an x-ray without help. Luckily my friend Sam came into town and caught the bus to the hospital with us (we didn’t have the car seat, and S loves the bus) and sat in the waiting area with S while I messed around putting on one of those silly gowns, and then went for my x-ray. I have no idea how I would have coped bringing S with me, if Sam hadn’t come too, but I’m fairly sure it would have involved at least one toddler tantrum.

S This one is fairly obvious, but S has been going through a bit of a stage lately, where she’s suddenly learning new words and sentences all the time. We have proper conversations, which is a novelty for a single mother whose main source of conversation for two years has been baby babble! Of course, our conversations are still filled with toddler speech and observations, which makes them a lot more fun and interesting than adult conversations!

Wonderful reasons! I've had some great things happen this week, thanks to friends, so I understand that one. And there is nothing better than sleepy cuddles, I still get them, and my youngest is about to turn 7 x Ojo Henley recently posted...Reasons to be CheerfulMy Profile

It reminded me of when she was a tiny baby and would fall asleep on my chest. It's impossible to feel stress in such situations!
